·I have hunted Kansas for the past five years, logged more hours than I know what to do with, and went to every corner of the state in search of the best waterfowl hunting. The boys at Kansas Xtreme Outfitters put me on some of the best waterfowl action I could have asked for. I was referred to them by a close friend of the Silver Lake/Topeka area, and will continue to turn more people on to Jay and Brian. If you need a feel good hunt for slow times in your area, hook up with these boys and you'll leave a happy guy. Thanks to the Kansas Xtreme Outfitters for the hard work, scouting, and communication with me before, during, and after the hunt.

·Jay, Just wanted to tell you what a great time I had on our teal hunt this past September. Your Kansas Xtreme Outfitters crew was great, the location on the river was a great spot, and I really had a fine time. I felt right at home, and you and your crew are a great group of guys. I would enthusiastically recommend your service to anyone who wants to come and hunt here in KS. Thanks again, and I hope I get to hunt with you guys many more times.

·"I have had the opportunity to hunt with Kansas Extreme Outfitters several times over the past two waterfowl seasons, and I can recommend them without reservation. Every outing has been enjoyable and productive for two very important reasons. First, KXO is well equipped for any hunt, from a full spread of goose decoys and layout blinds to extensive land access across Northeast Kansas. Put simply, when you want to hunt they will have all the best gear as well access to the places that the birds want to be. The second reason behind my positive experiences with KXO, and in my view the most important, is the people. I have hunted with Jay, Brian, Daniel, and Jim; all are outstanding. It starts long before you arrive for a hunt. They scout far and wide to keep on top of the flocks and give you the best chance to see lots of birds. And once you are around the birds, the guides’ exceptional calling ability can turn nervous late-season birds into a steady stream of flocks visiting your decoys. I have seen them turn flocks that were just specks on the horizon and convince flocks that were about to put down in another field, among real geese, that they would rather come visit us instead. To top it all off, they are friendly, professional people that are just plain fun to hunt with."

·Fantastic goose and duck hunt with a great bunch of guys.  During the worst of the 2009 winter, Jay and the Xtreme Gang found the geese and ducks and invited them to spend the afternoon with us.  After a couple of hours of fast action, we had our limit of Canada geese and as a bonus, a dozen plus Mallards.  It couldn't have worked out better. I would recommend the Xtreme Waterfowl team to anyone looking for a memorable hunting experience with guys who really know their trade.

·I wanted to take a moment and tell you and the staff what a great
time we had hunting over the weekend. My brother in law and I both liked the fact we had were involved with many aspects of the hunt. We were included in the set up of the decoys, and the prep of the blinds. Not only was this a hunt it turned into a "question and answer time". How to conceal and how to place decoys that create a "landing zone".  That information we have brought home and began to use in our duck hunting here.  Having hundreds of birds so close and the noise of them was most exciting. Getting our limit on both hunts was a bonus.

Jay, Jim, and Kansas Xtreme Dream Team
Thank you for a premier hunt experience! My 13 year old son Patrick and I, along with my good friend Jack Silvers enjoyed this opportunity. This was Patrick's first opportunity to knock down some big Canadian geese. The set up was perfect with geese and ducks in the spread from the time we arrived. You and your team made the hunt fun and exciting. We appreciate the enthusiasm and effort to make this a day we will all remember. You guys are awesome and we look forward to joining you for a hunt again soon!

"I enthusiastically recommend hunting waterfowl with Kansas Xtreme Outfitters.  I have hunted waterfowl throughout: Southern Louisiana, Stuttgart, Arkansas, Maryland's Eastern shore and Kansas XTREME Outfitters provided a well-organized, professional, and outstanding hunting experience.  Jay and his guides scouted an incredible hunting location for our trip on the Kansas River that was loaded with Mallards.

I look forward to booking future duck and goose hunting trips with Jay Shively and his team of dedicated guides."

2009-2010 Testimonials

I just moved to Lawrence, Kansas, last year.  I grew up hunting waterfowl in Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho.  When I came to eastern Kansas the first thing I noted was the lack of public lands and the great number of ducks and geese.  I decided that I would have to join a local duck club; I searched the newspapers, websites, and asked around at Ducks Unlimited dinners.  I could not find anything like a traditional duck club.  After weeks of searching I decided to run a newspaper add it the Lawrence newspaper under sporting goods, requesting information on waterfowl leases, or clubs.

Jay Shively through a co-worker contacted me.  Jay said “We do not have a waterfowl lease or club, but we do have access to thousands of acres from Perry to Topeka, we have many different settings, jump shooting, farm pond decoying, to open field duck and goose shooting.”  I joined Jay Shively’s operation.  Daniel Squires, co-founder of this operation is key to the success and spontaneity of this venture.  To call it a guide service would be an injustice, their endeavors are a blend of different features, they principally are brokers of great habitats over a large swath of eastern Kansas, and they have large and spectacular sets of duck and goose decoys.  We did it all: we made small sets on little farm ponds, shot mallards over corn, jump shot ducks and geese, and even pulled off a Ring-necked duck shoot over decoys.

Joining Shively’s and Squire’s venture is fun, safe, highly variable and productive.

The ducks and geese in this sector of North America are also delicious, especially compared to waterfowl in coastal Oregon and Washington.  All I can say is I would highly recommend their services, and access to the appropriate habitats in correlation to the long waterfowl season in eastern Kansas.

Sincerely,

Jerry S.

We purchased the hunt at our local Ducks Unlimited banquet.  Due to the severe weather conditions, Shively were not satisfied with that hunt and invited us to hunt again.  Both hunts were very good.  The Shively's are very professional and have the best available decoys and hunting land.

Hunting with the Kansas Xtreme Outfitter guys is great!   I remember one hunt in particular where we could not decide whether to shoot at the ducks or the geese first.  I have never seen a group of guides more conscientious about making sure you get the most for your money.  They provide real, good-old-fashioned, customer service.  I will definitely be back for more!"

Hey Folks, upon arriving in Kansas and meeting Jay, we hit the woods immediately. Jay and his crew had scouted for turkeys and we were on birds at the first stop...only trouble was; the weather was turning bad and the Toms were henned up big time. With the weather getting worse and the turkeys not wanting to cooperate; we knew that we were going to have to make our own luck and that was where KXO (Jay), really impressed me. We tried every dirty trick in the book and the turkeys just handed us our ass every time. We stalked, crept, crawled, walked and ran for what we calculated a distance of 14 miles in two days. Jay never gave up, and was always ready for the next field. We were in the woods before daylight and didn't quit until dark every day.  We were soaked by rain, wind blown, froze, and mud up to our ears and was always on birds. Finally on day three, the weather broke and the cards turned in our favor. Jay got us in on some birds out strutting in a field he had scouted a few days before. We shot a 24 pounder with a ten inch beard. That same evening we settled a score with a 27 pounder with a ten inch beard. Folks, we were always on birds, even in the worst of weather; which demonstrates the scouting and time these guys put in before you arrive to hunt. They never quit, gave up, or even recommended we "call it a day" when the weather was bad. We hunted hard and made our good luck... I can say in all honesty, that these guys have sincerely impressed me with their hard work and dedication to their clients. I have hunted with many outfitters in several states and these guys rank at the top of my list. I've included my e-mail address..if anyone would like to hear more about these guys feel free to email me...again, I can't recommend these guys enough...I'm sure you'll be happy with your hunt....not every hunt can be successful, but it won't be for the lack of these guys working their butts off for you...
